Ongoing research with textiles as soft image media, where the self-printing screens translate the passage of time into movements onto the textile through thermographic printing and changing frequencies. Embodying continuous change as it performs and interacts with the texture of time.
IV. Life is Liquid
Permanence is fluidness itself

VI. Variations on Ensō
Techno-spiritual practice of drawing “ensō”, a one breath - one brushstroke circle, fundamental in zen calligraphy. In this instance, that one breath is replaced by an untiring output position signal, brush by laser and sumi-e ink by a light reactive treated textile, referring to our technologized culture. Observing repetition as a new begging every time, not a monotone act of the same thing over and over.

Explorations on chromic reactive textiles and a simplified interface for user interaction. Custom made circuitry. All response and color change occurs in real-time.

Honourable Mention for Chromorph project at VELUX International Design Award 2014. Jury: Gamfratesi, Petra Blaisse
The VELUX International Design Award was established to offer aspiring design students the opportunity to push the boundaries of what is possible to achieve at the intersection of design and technology, for blinds for roof windows. Design students were invited to submit their ideas on the future design and composition of roof window blinds for a chance to win the VELUX International Design Award. The submitted work was rated based on the criteria: 'innovation', 'improved quality of life', 'sustainability' and 'market potential'. The award-event was held at the Design Academy Eindhoven
" In our time, light has turned into a mere quantitative matter and the window has lost is significance as a mediator between two worlds, between enclosed and open, interiority and exteriority, private and public, shadow and light." /Juhani Pallasmaa The Eyes of the Skin/
Using the natural energy of the sun, the placement and common usage of Velux window blinds, our idea is to take advantage of the heat, temperature, and sunlight the blinds receive throughout the day. By combining color changing ink and silkscreen ink, the blinds change color and pattern, giving the room a varied array of moods and visual experiences according to the time of day and current weather. This concept has infinite possibilities, due to its mix and match nature ( pattern vs color ). With the idea of light filtering through into color, we re-conceptualize the age old tradition of vitralism, with dynamic geometric, op-art inspired patterns and introduce this ready made experience to brighten your everyday modern home.
